Flir Systems has announced the release of two exceptional visible light cameras that add to its entire range of Quasar security cameras. Designed for demanding indoor and outdoor environments, the new Flir Quasar Premium Mini-Dome and Quasar Premium Bullet cameras offer excellent image quality, a high level of integration, and advanced cybersecurity features required on sites with strategic infrastructure, remote facilities or large spaces requiring close surveillance.

The new Quasar Premium range provides the highest level of quality in the video surveillance product portfolio, with optimal performance for archival analysis. The Flir Quasar Premium Mini-Dome Series models are available with 5MP or 4K Ultra-HD resolution, and Flir Quasar Premium Bullet Series models with 4MP and 4K Ultra-HD resolution. A wide range of objectives complements the offer to ensure extended reach during perimeter security operations. Both cameras have an SD card designed for local recording and redundancy, and also comply with the H.265 video compression standard to reduce network tape and storage space.

Discreet surveillance

The flir Quasar Premium Mini-Dome Series are IP66-approved for dust and water protection and can be mounted on the ceiling or wall in minutes. In the absence of light, the unit can offer visibility for 40 meters via integrated near-infrared lighting. The large dynamic measurement range has been optimized (130 db). Thanks to its three shutters, it performs a perfect balancing of light in dark and lighted areas. The camera has the IK10 certification of vandalism resistance and can be equipped with an optional smoke bubble to mask its position.

Higher range in difficult conditions

The Flir Quasar Premium Bullet Series is also IK10 certified against vandalism and designed to be installed permanently, usually on a pylon, for video surveillance purposes. The unit can offer visibility for 60 metres via integrated near-infrared lighting. It also has a large dynamic measuring range based on three shutters (130 db). The camera is IP67 certified for protection from dust and water, while providing an extended temperature range between -40 degrees Celsius and 60 degrees Celsius for extreme conditions.

Improved security without sacrificing flexibility

Like other Quasar products, the Quasar Premium Bullet and Premium Dome models comply with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and incorporate industry-standard security protocols, as well as some additional cybersecurity enhancements. These features include unique protection against login attacks, hardware and software authentication, and an encryption system to help protect sites from cyber threats. The models are compatible with open platforms and can be used with a large number of third-party VMS solutions or with Flir United VMS. They also have a two-way audio function and allow the operator to control input and exit devices to remotely monitor and react to events.

To further reduce the cost of ownership and simplify installation, cameras integrate Flir's accessories and assembly ecosystem. Cameras support 1GB networks to improve streaming and reduce bandwidth problems. Both cameras also include video stream customization options for live and recorded videos, including setting the output frame frequency per second and encoding additional streams.
