For over ten years, ViciVision has specialized in the production of optical measuring machines for turned or cylindrical parts in a wide range of sectors.
The use of non-contact metrology solutions reduces inspection times, while increasing productivity and yield.
A ViciVision optical machine measures the external profile of cylindrical parts, statically and dynamically, in a matter of seconds: from simple diameters, lengths and threads, to more complex form defects.
This know-how has attracted strong international interest from manufacturers of dental implants and micromechanics. ViciVision has therefore developed a specific product line to meet growing demand.
High-resolution images combined with improved ergonomics for small parts meet the needs of dental implant and micromechanics manufacturers.
With this rapidly changing environment and evolving global markets, it can be difficult for manufacturers to choose the right machine and technology with the capacity and flexibility to see them through the coming years.
Limiting yourself to small parts can be "short-sighted.
According to ViciVision, a machine with a wide measuring range is still the best choice, as long as you don't compromise on resolution, accuracy and the ability to detect the smallest details.
In a world where "all-in-one" solutions are ideal, the company makes its debut with the X-360, a machine capable of capturing the smallest details while offering a large field of view.
The resolution of dental implant measuring machines is now available with a larger envelope (300 x 60 mm), typical of the small precision parts produced on bar turning machines and multispindle lathes.
For small and large parts
"This results in a unique solution on the market, providing dental implant manufacturers with a single instrument capable of measuring both small and large parts, such as those used in spinal or orthopedic surgery."says the company.
Micromechanics manufacturers can also benefit from a resolution that enables them to measure very small radii, bevels, grooves and threads, while also having the option of measuring larger dimensions (300 x 60 mm).
Resolution combined with a large field of view completes ViciVision's exclusive "full image" function. The "full image" function captures the complete profile of the part loaded into the machine, with maximum resolution, displaying and recording all measurements.
Measurements are recorded along with the entire part profile.
This function allows the user to save the part image for later inspection. If further information is required, measurements can be taken using the part profile, without having to re-measure the part itself.
The ergonomics of the product have been designed to facilitate the measurement of small parts. The machine offers clear, well-lit front access, to facilitate loading and unloading operations, even for the smallest parts. Particular attention has been paid to reducing preventive maintenance. Optical housings are made of stainless steel rather than aluminum, to avoid contamination and facilitate cleaning.
Low-friction bearings on the upper tailstock reduce rotational slippage between tailstock and workpiece at low clamping forces. In all high-precision industries, clamping must be delicate to avoid deforming the parts being measured.
Instead of mounting parts between centers, the machine can be equipped with a wide range of fixtures for parts without centering holes.
Automated control possible
The automated control option includes I/O communication systems and pneumatic clamping (on chuck and tailstock).
Thanks to its long history in the field of industrial automation, ViciVision is able to meet the needs of robotic integration and interfacing with MES and SPC software.
For the most advanced integrations, VVLinx communication software enables closed-loop control of machining centers. The data collected is processed and sent back to the lathe (in the form of tool offsets) to keep production within tolerances and facilitate tool changes.
With no trade shows or international events taking place this year, the product launch will be conducted via webinars and live demonstrations.
"Whether it's major automotive manufacturers looking for automation, or high-precision medical device manufacturers producing in small batches, the X-360, with its high-resolution imaging and wide field of view, is the perfect solution for any industry."the company stresses.
