Flir Systems has announced the launch of the Flir Firefly DL, its vision camera featuring Deep Learning by inference.
With its small size, low weight, minimal power consumption and deep learning capabilities, the Flir Firefly DL camera enables integration into mobile, desktop and portable systems.
Firefly DL Deep Learning offers manufacturers, engineers and OEMs the ability to rapidly develop and deploy solutions for complex automation tasks. In addition, system builders can reduce the cost and complexity of their work by deploying a trained neural network directly on the camera, eliminating the need for a host system to carry out object classification, detection and localization tasks.
The Firefly DL combines machine vision performance with the power of Deep Learning to solve complex, subjective problems, such as face recognition or solar panel quality classification. The Firefly DL camera is the first Flir camera to use Flir Neuro technology, which enables users to deploy their trained neural network directly on the camera, making in-device inference and on-camera decision making possible. Flir Neuro provides an open platform and supports common infrastructures, including TensorFlow and Caffe, for maximum flexibility. Neuro is ideal for classification, localization and detection functions.
The Flir Firefly DL camera is currently available from authorized Flir distributors and online for €265.
