New high-sensitivity portable radionuclide identification device

The spectrometer features a new, high-sensitivity 2×2 NaI (sodium iodide) detector. The advantage of this detector is not only its ability to provide sensitive and rapid detection, but also to enable accurate identification on any type of mission, from routine screening to emergency response.

According to HTDS, the 2×2 Nal detector enables the Identifinder R440 spectrometer to react to radioactive threats much further away, behind larger obstacles and with better resolution than other spectrometers of similar size in existence today.

Finally, with its easy-to-read interface and 360° EasyFinder mode, the new Identifinder R440 spectrometer quickly detects threats and speeds up decision-making to ensure the safety of workers and the environment.

A robust device

Compliant with ANSI N42.42 and ANSI N42.34 standards, and featuring a rugged IP67 enclosure, the identiFInder R440 spectrometer has been designed to withstand the most demanding shock and environmental conditions.

Protected against dust penetration and water immersion (splashes, accidental submersion, rain, etc.) to a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes, the Identifinder R440 spectrometer is highly resistant even if dropped from a height of 1 meter onto hard ground. Finally, its fully enclosed crystal makes it even more robust.

Thanks to the on-board 2×2 NaI detector, the Identifinder R440 spectrometer is 3.5 times more sensitive and has a resolution of 10 % higher than other RIIDs of comparable size. According to HTDS, the high dose rate range provides stability and accuracy. Stabilization without a radioactive source improves data collection, reducing false positives.

The Identifinder R440 spectrometer has been developed in two versions:
. a detection model, measuring gamma rays only (with neutron indication),
. a model for the combined detection, measurement and identification of gamma rays, including neutron counting.

With its high-performance features, the Identifinder R440 spectrometer delivers clear results, improved communications, and ensures the safety of operators and the environment.

The Identifinder R440 spectrometer is equipped with a wireless communication system and FLIR's 360° EasyFinder mode. According to HTDS, this latter function provides a significant advantage, as it enables data to be collected and interpreted, and the exact location of the source to be identified by the user.

Built for inter-organizational standardization, the user interface of the Identifinder R440 spectrometer is common to all other Identifinder products, a specificity that enables the Identifinder R440 spectrometer to be integrated into all current operational protocols, thus reducing the training burden.

Compact, lightweight and robust, this new detector can be used in a wide range of situations and environments:
– Douane / Sécurité aux frontières.
– Situation d’urgence / Protection civile.
– Radioprotection générale
– Contrôle environnemental
– etc.
