Starting in 2024, SNCF Voyageurs will introduce the new TGV-M trains. This new generation features a host of innovations to reduce energy consumption by 20 % and improve the carbon footprint by 37 % compared with current trains.
To accommodate this new rolling stock, SNCF Voyageurs is adapting and modernizing its maintenance workshops. The Paris-Conflans site, for example, will be fitted with new ultrasonic equipment for measuring TGV wheel defects.
The schedule calls for construction of the building between late 2022 and early 2024, with full commissioning of the equipment in the third quarter of 2024.
A call for tenders is currently underway for the supply, installation and commissioning of the ultrasound system. Interested companies are invited to submit an application on the SNCF's internet platform.
