Sofranel strengthens its business and takes on a new European dimension

Following negotiations that began over 6 months ago, the Sofranel Group (Sofranel, Srem Technologies, Isartel, Camm) has just finalized the acquisition of Balteau, a Belgian manufacturer of X-ray generators, from Sonatest, its former shareholder.

Well known throughout the world for its BALTOSPOT range of portable constant and pulsed voltage generators, its BALTOGRAPH stationary generators and systems, and its Crawlers, Balteau employs 30 people at its plant in Liège, and has been distributing its products in over 60 countries since 1906. In France, our products are distributed by Cegelec.

For Frédéric Carpentier, Balteau's Managing Director and initiator of the project, this new stage, in which the company's main managers are involved with the support of a Belgian Regional Investment Fund, will enable Balteau, through its approach with a new, recognized industrial partner, to gain in responsiveness and complementarities, and to consolidate an ambitious five-year technical and commercial development plan.

Through this acquisition, Groupe Sofranel confirms the development of its NDT equipment manufacturing division (magnetic particle inspection, penetrant testing, radiology, multi-technology systems, etc.), complementing its historical business as a distributor of ultrasonic and eddy current equipment, as well as radiology and magnetic particle inspection consumables.
