Faro lance le TracerSI destiné à la projection et à l’inspection laser

Headlight - Projector

Faro launches the next-generation TracerSI laser projector for laser-guided assembly, featuring an innovative in-process verification function.

Combined with BuildIT Projector software, TracerSI is a fully integrated, optimized solution featuring innovative hardware. It is based on the successful TracerM.

Like its predecessor, the TracerM, the TracerSI laser projector is a fully-featured, innovative solution that harnesses 3D computer-aided design information to project 3D images onto a physical surface, providing a detailed, dynamic virtual model that fitters can use to position components reliably and accurately. This solution offers a significant return on investment. Companies no longer need to invest in physical jigs, such as molds or wooden or metal tools, which have to be manufactured, maintained, stored or repaired. What's more, it reduces manufacturing errors in real time, resulting in costly scrap or rework. Documented case studies show that savings on rework and scrap can pay for themselves in as little as 90 days.

The TracerSI revolutionizes 2D imaging and its use in all industrial applications, as it is the first laser digitizing imaging system in its class to offer high-definition projection and digitizing across its entire projection volume. As this is not based on lenses or conventional image scanning, the depth of field is equivalent to the projection range. What's more, there are no constraints in terms of brightness, since the solution uses a laser beam. Nor are image size and resolution limited. The combination of laser scanning imaging and high-precision projection sets a new industry standard for repeatable laser-guided assembly.

Increased efficiency thanks to in-process verification
The TracerSI is the first laser projector to enable in-process verification. It uses a high-performance laser scanning imaging system, combined with BuildIT Projector software, to carry out quality checks. Users can perform image-based quality control at any time during the assembly process, and take any corrective or preventive action with confidence to facilitate the end-to-end process. In particular, they can detect the presence or absence of certain features during the assembly process or on the final assembly. What's more, the unique Foreign Object Debris (FOD) detection function can identify isolated fragments.

"We are continuing to develop the expertise we acquired through the purchase of Laser Projection Technologies (LPT) in 2016, explains Pete Edmonds, Vice-President of the Industrial Metrology Division. Our initial priority was to build a better laser projector, but the key lessons we drew from our market analysis indicated that there was a need for laser projection systems that combined hardware and software to deliver a perfectly matched solution with excellent repeatability. The integration of BuildIT Projector software with the TracerSI projection and inspection hardware platform has enabled us to take an important step towards our goal of becoming the undisputed leaders in the end-to-end construction market thanks to laser scanning camera projection and inspection".
