Zeiss equips Microrectif with the world's most accurate 3D machine

Zeiss, leader in industrial metrology & Microrectif, expert in high precision machining and grinding, were pleased to celebrate the official inauguration of the Zeiss Xenos, the most accurate three-dimensional measuring machine in the world and the only one of its kind installed in France, on Wednesday, September 7 in Saint-Etienne.

Course of the inauguration

In the presence of the press and regional political figures, the Zeiss Xenos was inaugurated at Microrectif, a family business established in Saint-Etienne since 1952, which has a turnover of nearly €8 million with large, well-known manufacturers.
This key event was the opportunity to renew the partnership and the exclusive contract between the 2 companies and Xenos. The intervention of Thierry Coorevits, Senior Lecturer at the Arts & Métiers de Lille (Ensam) also provided an educational insight into metrology, its definition and its applications, thus giving full meaning to the importance of high precision in the advanced industry and the metrology of the future.

Acquisition of the Zeiss Xenos by Microrectif

One of Microrectif's objectives is to anticipate market developments and advocate continuous innovation in order to be at the forefront of the grinding, machining, turning-milling and metrology markets. This is why it has already acquired five Zeiss measuring machines before confirming its investment in the Zeiss Xenos and its accompanying air-conditioned cabin in 2020. Through its acquisition, the SME from Saint-Etienne will thus give French industry access to the performance of an exceptional 3D measuring machine.

Zeiss Xenos CMM, the reference

It is suitable for applications in all areas with the highest precision requirements in the metrology room, aerospace or optical industry thanks to its innovative technology for measuring accuracy with a margin of error of less than 0.0001 millimeters. The DAkkS-certified high-end machine combines the highest technically feasible accuracy with a measuring volume of approximately one cubic meter. With its VCMM software, it allows the calculation of measurement uncertainty.

Gérald Chatain, President of Microrectif :" Our goal is to eradicate countermeasure and bring full accuracy to many parts such as reference standards, prototypes, 3D printing, etc. ".
