New system for high-speed, high-precision non-contact inspection

Nikon - Measurement

Nikon Metrology launches the HN-C3030 non-contact 3D measurement system for extremely fast, precise measurement of complex parts such as gears, blades, turbine blades etc.

With the HN-C3030 featuring a high-tech laser scanner, Nikon takes a quantum leap forward in ultra-fast shape characterization compared with traditional tactile measurement methods. By scanning and comparing the entire shape against the original CAD file, users gain a better overview of their product's conformity. As a result, they can reduce design problems and get products to market faster.

L’introduction d’une toute nouvelle plate-forme 64 bits

With the development of increasingly complex parts, the demand for faster and more accurate measurement of these parts has also increased. In order to achieve the highest possible accuracy, Nikon has developed a special laser scanner optic which also allows scanning of glossy or dark surfaces without manual preparation such as powdering.

High-precision 5-axis system for optimum accessibility

System positioning with 5 synchronized axes is an important element in delivering accurate measurement results. The HN-C3030 features a 3-axis drive system, a rotary table with infinite rotation, and a laser scanner on an articulated arm with an angular range of -20° to +135°. This makes it possible to scan large areas, top and side surfaces, and even the underside of workpieces. The direction of the laser scanner can also be altered (rotation from -180° to + 180°), enabling analysis of various shapes at an optimum angle.

Optimum combination of speed and precision

Nikon Metrology's HN-C3030 is capable of inspecting all toothed surfaces on an automotive gear in just 5 minutes. The laser scanner acquires point clouds at a speed of 120,000 points per second. The result is a complete 3D scan of the part, unlike touch scanning, which only provides individual points or scan lines. The detailed 3D report provides not only the complete shape, but also information on surface waviness and tooth wear, difficult to detect by tactile measurement.

Un puissant logiciel d’acquisition combiné à une analyse détaillée

The HN-C3030 software features acquisition and analysis tools for optimal digitization of parts of different sizes, shapes and surfaces. Comparison between the acquired point clouds and the original CAD file provides easy-to-interpret 3D deviation reports with color results. However, for more advanced gear inspection, specific gear software enables easy creation of teach-in programs and analysis reports in the same format as conventional gear systems.

Une solution hautement exploitable pour une variété d’applications

The HN-C3030 is particularly effective for measuring complex, highly detailed shapes (hypoid, bevel, helical) and all other types of parts with a maximum diameter of 300 mm. It is also suitable for inspecting impellers, blades, seals, hobs, etc. The HN-C3030 does not need to be used in an air-conditioned room. On production sites, the HN-C3030 can be used as a workshop system when fitted with an optional temperature controller.
