The LXI consortium is responsible for developing, promoting and evolving the standard of electronic instruments based on Ethernet communications. Very attentive to the evolution of the Internet, it has just adopted the IPv6 protocol which will allow users to deploy their LXI modules without worrying about possible addressing limitations such as those encountered with the IPv4 protocol. The IPv6 protocol is based on 128-bit addresses, which allows up to 340 billion IP addresses to be used, which is immeasurably more than the 32-bit addresses offered on the IPv4 protocol.
