American company Measurement Specialties has just inaugurated a new sensor factory in France (at Saint-Martin-du Touch, near Toulouse). The 6,000 m2 facility employs 230 people. Measurement Specialties' industrial presence in France dates back to 2004, when it acquired the company Humirel, founded by two former engineers from the Motorola Toulouse components plant. At the time, this company specialized in humidity sensors and employed 50 people. Measurement Specialities has made it its center of excellence for humidity sensors and its European headquarters for all its activities. With the construction of the new plant, Measurement Specialities' foothold in France has been strengthened. In addition to moisture sensors, the American company manufactures sensors and systems for measuring pressure, force, position, vibration, temperature, torque and fluid properties. According to our colleague La Dépêche, "80 % of the Toulouse site's business is in cars and trucks, and 20 % in household appliances. 92 % of production is exported.
