Schenck RoTec has certified balancing centers at 13 locations across Europe. A few weeks ago, the company added another service to its range: high-speed balancing of flexible rotors. The main beneficiaries of this new service will be manufacturers and companies responsible for the maintenance of turbine rotors, generators, multi-stage pumps and large electric motors.
Balancing flexible rotors is a particularly demanding task for measuring equipment, as the unbalance of these types of rotors changes as the rotational speed increases. In order to obtain reliable results, these rotors must always be balanced as close as possible to their operating speed. Schenck RoTec can now meet these requirements. In a nutshell, flexible rotors weighing up to 20 tonnes and measuring up to eight meters in length can now be balanced at speeds of over 50,000 rpm. In addition, strength tests can be carried out at higher speeds.
Highly qualified balancing specialists test, inspect and measure rotors and their components in Schenck RoTec's balancing centers. They correct unbalances in small and large production runs at the customer's request, or eliminate disruptive vibrations on machines at their place of operation (in-situ balancing). Their services range from precision balancing of the smallest rotors with a residual unbalance of just a few micrograms, to balancing of large rotors using processes adapted to each case. Schenck RoTec GmbH's balancing and rotation testing services are certified in Germany to DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO 14001, VDA 6.4 and Ford Q1.
