Visitors to EuroPack CFIA will discover how to reduce their total cost of ownership and optimize productivity with Omron's complete robotics and automation system solutions.
Omron will be exhibiting at the EuroPack EuroManut CFIA trade show in Lyon, France, from November 21 to 23. The company will be demonstrating its ability to create intelligent, flexible production facilities, to help customers remain competitive and anticipate the future. The system, which will be on display on the Omron stand (Hall 6, stand H76-J75), combines various application demonstrations and uses "intelligent" data to ensure production efficiency tailored to customers' specific needs.
Products on display at the stand will include a Quattro robot for pick-and-place applications, two mobile robots (LD60), a high-speed vision system and a Sysmac machine controller. Most importantly, these products are all connected via the cloud to offer an intelligent, complete and integrated solution. This is just one example of Omron's "i-Automation" concept, which aims to provide customers with interactive, integrated and intelligent solutions in line with Industry 4.0, in that they optimize the digitalization of production.
As the whole system is fully interconnected, the data collected can be analyzed to optimize overall system control. A key element of the emerging Industry 4.0, intelligent data enables a system's production rates to be adapted to meet actual demand, thus shifting from the traditional "Push" production-oriented approach to the "Pull" demand-oriented one. What's more, thanks to intelligent data, problems can be detected, analyzed and localized as quickly as possible, enabling operators to establish the most appropriate maintenance programs, and thus minimize downtime.
The Quattro robot is a four-axis parallel robot for high-speed, high-precision pick-and-place applications. Combined with the vision system, it provides high-precision pick-and-place control for high-speed action, even when moving delicate objects. Not content with speeding up production and reducing energy consumption, the vision system also helps to guarantee food quality, since it can quickly identify damaged products, incorrectly labelled or missing information on labels, or production problems. As a result, only affected batches are withdrawn, avoiding costly general recall procedures. In addition, as they transport heavy loads between stations, mobile robots contribute to preserving the health and safety of operators. The whole system is controlled by a Sysmac control system, which manages processes and secure communications via the cloud.
"Our latest system solution aims to meet the challenges facing the food industry today," explains Omron Managing Director Stéphane Chômienne. "It enables greater flexibility to cope with the increasing number of SKUs, while optimizing data collection and reporting processes. Automation also helps preserve manpower by managing the skills shortage issue. It ensures low maintenance and maximum availability, while reducing costs. What's more, customers' brand image is further preserved, thanks to the application of the strictest production quality standards."
Bringing together professionals from three sectors (processing, packaging and handling), Europack Euromanut CFIA has rapidly established itself as one of the industry's leading events. Celebrating its third edition this year, it will welcome 500 exhibitors and 12,000 visitors.
