In 2017, the Endress+Hauser Group once again invested more than seven percent of its sales in research and development. "With 261 patent applications, as well as 467 approved patents, our level of innovation is once again high this year," says Angelika Andres, Head of Patent Law at Endress+Hauser. Many of these developments are in the field of liquid analysis, level and flow measurement technologies.
"In order to strengthen the Group's position in this competitive environment, we protect our innovations with patents at an early stage," says Dr Andreas Mayr, Head of Marketing and Technology at Endress+Hauser. 2017 saw several innovations, with Endress+Hauser introducing 57 new products to the market, including the iTHERM TrustSens thermometer with self-calibration function and the Promass Q, which provides highly accurate mass flow, volume flow and density measurements.
Strengthening the spirit of innovation
In addition to numerous research and development activities, close collaboration with selected universities and research institutes is another factor that helps the Endress+Hauser Group maintain a high level of innovation. The company has also set up a sensor automation laboratory on the campus of the University of Freiburg, Germany, where a team of scientists, researchers and developers will be responsible for creating innovative sensor technologies for the Group.
