The Civa simulation platform, developed by CEA List and distributed by Extende, continues to expand with a new module dedicated to the modelling of the Structural Health Monitoring (SHM or structural health monitoring) using guided ultrasound waves.
In a context where sensors are embedded in the structure to be controlled, with a large number of influential parameters and complex, costly implementation, experimental campaigns quickly become prohibitive if real optimization and reliability studies are to be carried out. Simulation tools make it possible to reduce the number of mock-ups and tests required, and thus cut costs in the design and qualification phases.
With Civa SHM, manufacturers can :
- Help design the monitoring strategy (in particular the number and distribution of sensors according to the geometry of the inspected structure),
- Support performance demonstrations and technical justifications (parametric studies and sensitivity analyses),
- Provide data for POD studies,
- Provide information and data to better understand and master the technique, and know how to process SHM signals.
