The Civa simulation platform, developed by the CEA List and distributed by Extende, continues to enrich itself with a new module dedicated to modeling Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) by guided ultrasonic waves.
In a context where sensors are embedded in the structure to be controlled, with a number of important influential parameters and a complex and costly implementation, experimental campaigns quickly become prohibitive if we are to conduct real studies of optimization and reliability. Simulation tools reduce the number of models and tests needed to reduce costs in these design and qualification phases.
With Civa SHM, manufacturers can:
- To assist in the design of the monitoring strategy (particularly the number and distribution of sensors according to the geometry of the structure inspected),
- Support performance demonstrations and technical justifications (parametric studies and sensitivity analyses),
- Provide data to inform POD studies,
- Provide information and data to better understand and master the technique and know how to process SHM signals.
