Teratonics, a Deep Tech start-up based in Paris-Saclay and specializing in non-destructive control (NDT) and contactless imaging, associates Socomore Ventures with its capital through a seed investment.
Founded in 2017 by researchers from the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry (LCP) at the University of Paris-South /CNRS, Teratonics uses a patented technology based on Terahtz pulses, which allows dimensional measurements and detection of defects in electrically insulating materials. These include plastics, composites, welded or glued assemblies, and coatings used more and more often in the automotive and aeronautics industries, for example. Thanks to the Teratonics system, it is possible to carry out an online control of 100% of the production in order to guarantee its quality.
Teratonics is a rising star in the NDT market. The founding team was incubated by IncubAlliance in 2015 and then selected and accompanied by the Wilco accelerator from 2017. In 2018, the company won the DeepTech4Good award in the Industry 4.0 category as a high-potential European start-up.
In October 2018, Teratonics reached an agreement with Trexel to distribute its NDT solution in the plastic injection market. The funding provided by Socomore Ventures will accelerate growth and address an even wider range of applications.
Uli Schmidhammer, Founder and CEO of Teratonics said: "We are very proud of Socomore Ventures' commitment to our company. Their investment is more than just capital. It gives us the opportunity to develop interesting synergies, especially with Babbco, Soco's non-destructive testing entity. We are deeply convinced that their knowledge of the industry, as well as the quality and breadth of their network in the defence and aerospace markets, will significantly boost our growth. »
Daniel Javed of Socomore Ventures added: "We are excited about our investment in Teratonics, and we firmly believe that their technology will be a key element in the plant of the future. As a CVC whose roots are in the field of aerospace materials, our DNA is rooted in the industrial world. When we believe in the potential of a start-up to disrupt our market, we support it by providing not only funds but also the support of our entire organization. We are confident that Teratonics is a game changer in the NDT industry and we are pleased to support Uli and his team in their ambition to bring this unique technology to market. »
