Teratonics, a Deep Tech start-up based in Paris-Saclay and specializing in non-destructive testing (NDT) and non-contact imaging, brings Socomore Ventures into its capital through a seed investment.
Founded in 2017 by researchers from the Laboratoire de Chimie Physique (LCP) at the Université Paris-Sud / CNRS, Teratonics exploits a patented technology based on Terahertz pulses, which enables dimensional measurements to be made and defects to be detected in electrically insulating materials. These include plastics, composites, their welded or bonded assemblies, and coatings increasingly used in the automotive and aerospace industries, for example. The Teratonics system enables 100% in-line production control to guarantee quality.
Teratonics is a rising star in the NDT market. The founding team was incubated by IncubAlliance in 2015 and then selected and supported by the Wilco gas pedal from 2017. In 2018, the company won the DeepTech4Good in the Industry 4.0 as a high-potential European start-up.
In October 2018, Teratonics signed an agreement with Trexel for the distribution of its NDT solution in the plastic injection market. The funds provided by Socomore Ventures will enable the company to accelerate growth and address an even wider range of applications.
Uli Schmidhammer, founder and CEO of Teratonics: " we're very proud of Socomore Ventures' commitment to our company. For us, their investment represents much more than just capital. It gives us the opportunity to develop interesting synergies, notably with Babbco, Socomore's non-destructive testing unit. We are deeply convinced that their knowledge of the industry, as well as the quality and extent of their network in the defense and aerospace markets, will significantly boost our growth. "
Daniel Javed of Socomore Ventures adds: " we are excited about our investment in Teratonics, and firmly believe that their technology will be a key element in the factory of the future. As an HVAC company with roots in aerospace materials, our DNA is rooted in the industrial world. When we believe in the potential of a start-up to disrupt our market, we support it not only with funds, but also with the backing of our entire organization. We are convinced that Teratonics is a game-changer for the NDT industry, and we are delighted to support Uli and his team in their ambition to bring this unique technology to market. "
