" After a 1st independent edition in Bordeaux in 1983, it's clear that the Cim has seen many countries before settling in Lyon. Metrologists are used to working alone, but they need to be constantly informed about technical standards, regulations and technological developments. The International Metrology Congress was born of this need. Although this biennial event has evolved with the times and constraints it has faced, it has managed to retain its origins. The only notable difference is the end of the "Ladies' Program" held in parallel with the Congress for the wives of metrologists. Times have changed and our profession has evolved, becoming more inclusive of women. This year's event is a step in this direction, with almost equal numbers of female and male session chairmen and chairwomen. In addition, International Women's Rights Day will be celebrated at the same time as the conference. Welcome to the new Cim era ! " Pierre Barbier - Metrology expert and founder of Cim
