Danaher (sales of $16 billion in 2011) is back on the offensive. After recently divesting a number of activities deemed non-strategic, the American group is resuming its policy of company takeovers. It has just bought X-Ritea specialist in color measurement, is present in many industries (printing, packaging, photography, graphic arts, video, automotive, paints, plastics, textiles) as well as the medical and dental sectors. X-Rite (which owns the Pantone brand, among others) thus joins the other big names in this field. Danaher in the world of measurement: Fluke, Gems Sensors, Hach, Keithley Instruments, Tektronixin particular.Danaher will spend $625 million to take control of X-Rite. Once the acquisition is complete, X-Rite will join the Product Identification division, which also includes Esko (packaging design and production) and Videojet (marking and printing codes on packaging).
