The young French company New Imaging Technologies (NIT) has just won the 2012 Vision Award at the prestigious Vision trade fair in Stuttgart, which this year celebrated its 25th edition. The award is for its Magic3D platform. MAGIC (Active Matrix with Contrast Indexed Image Generation) is a CMOS sensor that enables highly stable images to be obtained in a single shot, without the need for multiple exposures, even when the observed scene features an extreme variety (over 120 dB) of bright and dark areas.
The platform presented by NIT uses the ECP3 sensor from Lattice and offers a resolution of 1280×1024 pixels and a dynamic range of 140 dB.
Created in 2007, NIT comes from a university background, and more specifically from theFrench National Institute of Telecommunications (today Télécom & Management SudParis).
