Watson-Marlow Pumps Group introduces the new 400RX® range of panel-mounted pumps, designed specifically to meet the needs of medical specialists.
Proven performance
While Watson-Marlow's existing RX models have proven their worth in the medical sector over the last 15 years, with the launch of the 400RXMD ('MD' stands for 'medical device'), the company is demonstrating its determination to evolve its products to best meet market requirements and trends. This solution is the result of extensive research carried out with industry professionals to ensure that it meets the precise needs of surgical applications.
Optimum performance, modern design and robustness were among the fundamental criteria for the RX pumps, and these features have proved highly satisfactory. However, many improvements highlighted by customers have been introduced in the new RX® family, including a range of specific pressure settings to suit different applications. The 400RXMD pumps will be delivered to customers pre-set for simple use with catheters.
Thanks to its innovative mechanism, the 400RXMD offers greater flow accuracy. Tube location is secure, and installation is quick and easy. These features reduce the risk of human error and enhance process integrity.
The new 400RX® pump from Watson-Marlow is initially available in 10 versions, offering the medical sector superior, precise technology. It features a flow rate of 450 ml/min at 550 rpm and a pressure range of up to 6 bar. With two stepper motors and a brushless motor option, the 400RX® pump allows pressure, flow and direction of rotation to be adjusted to customers' specific needs, a major advantage.
A healthy prognosis
This simple, robust and unique pump is particularly well suited to the field of radiofrequency ablation, where the pump is integrated into a larger system comprising a radiofrequency generator and catheter. RF energy is applied to destroy unwanted tissue by means of a controlled internal cellular heating system, thus avoiding intrusive needle intervention.
The 400RX® pump delivers coolant for precise temperature control: this effective treatment prevents scarring. The coolant enables RF energy to be focused on the target area, which is particularly important when ablating large volumes of tissue, as in the treatment of cancer. The technique is being developed for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia, cancer and many other surgical procedures.
