Laser Components Expansion by Acquisition
Pyroelectric Sensors Now Made In-house
The Laser Components Group expands its activities in the field of infrared detectors and acquires a majority stake in US-based manufacturer Microwatt Applications, LLC.
" This acquisition perfectly complements our international IR detector offering, and reconfirms our objective of significantly increasing our market share in this segment, says Patrick Paul, Managing Director of Laser Components GmbH. Microwatt and its staff will add their remarkable know-how and decades of experience in the production of pyroelectric detectors. With Alan Doctor, one of the most experienced and renowned experts in pyroelectric detectors joining our ranks. The two companies complement each other perfectly. "
Since July 2014, Microwatt has been operating under the name Laser Components Pyro Group, Inc. and as a subsidiary of Laser Components Detector Group, Inc. which already successfully manufactures a line of various solid-state detectors in the IR.
Microwatt's location in Florida will remain and be gradually expanded.
" In Laser Components we have found the ideal partner. Someone who not only provides the necessary funds to increase our production capacity, but also has a global sales network. "confirms Alan Doctor, Microwatt's Managing Director and majority shareholder.
Microwatt manufactures pyroelectric detectors based on LiTaO3 for industrial gas analysis, medical technology, flame detection and process control, and pyroelectric detectors based on DLaTGS as a detection material used in premium applications such as FTIR and THz spectrometers, which are gaining in market importance.
