Micronora, the international microtechnology and precision trade show, will be held in Besançon from September 25 to 28, 2018. Michèle Blondeau, the show's general manager, talks about why microtechniques have never done so well. Increasingly in demand from principals, the microtechnology industry enables them to respond faster, better and cheaper to increasingly complex projects.
How do you explain the vitality of the precision and microtechnology sector?
It's a fact that this sector is constantly coming up with innovations in every field. Whether in micro-fabrication, materials, control systems or automation, to name but a few. Thanks to these technological advances, we are able to develop products that are lighter, more economical, less polluting and better adapted to our needs.
What markets are served by these innovative solutions?
Applications can be found in virtually every industrial sector. After all, these objectives apply equally to automotive manufacturing, aeronautics, medical technology, luxury goods, telecommunications and electronics. In fact, very few industries can do without micro-technologies. Faced with complex design and manufacturing challenges, both large companies and SMEs are always on the lookout for innovative solutions. This explains their interest in these technologies. A trend that is unlikely to dry up, and which means that microtechnology companies will be called upon more and more. Without their contribution, it will be impossible to achieve the technological feats of tomorrow, which will see the birth of everything from autonomous cars and electric aircraft to new personalized medical solutions. Or even the factory of the future...
Your salon is regularly fully booked 7 to 8 months before opening. How do you explain this?
By reinforcing its specificity in the fields of high precision, miniaturization and the integration of complex functions, essential for the realization of increasingly intelligent products, Micronora is perfectly in tune with the needs of these markets. All the major technological developments, in both design and production, are present at each edition. From R&D to subcontracting, right through to production resources. A sign of the times, the show has also become a benchmark for nanotechnology. What's more, Micronora's high profile and growing international presence make it a must-attend event in Europe and beyond.
Is the microtechnology industry concerned by the Industrie 4.0 concept?
As tireless innovators, microtechnology companies are resolutely focused on the future. Our show proves this at every edition, with cutting-edge products, methods and solutions. However, while digital transformation is the key to the future of industry, and while some companies will need to be supported to make the transition to this fourth industrial revolution, others have not waited for the industry of the future to become a national priority before making it their present. For one simple reason: the Industrie 4.0 approach boosts productivity by improving overall operations. To illustrate these benefits, we need only mention the improved use of data provided by the many IT tools used by companies. A major challenge...
What will be the highlights of the next edition?
Innovation again and again!
Industrie 4.0: digital microtechnology, the theme of the next zoom, will be one of the highlights of the show, with a manufacturing island whose components will be connected in real time.
There will also be BtoB meetings at the 11th Micro Nano Event, where companies and research laboratories will be able to initiate partnerships to better address European markets. They will take place on September 27 and 28.
A program of conferences will also be held in parallel with the show, with hot topics, technologically speaking.
Finally, the "Microns and Nano d'Or" competition will reward the most emblematic innovations.
Other actions currently being developed will complete this program.
