The LNE group expands its certification business in the UK by creating a new subsidiary in the UK.
Following the Brexit, products CE marked in the EU market must now comply with UK regulations if they are to be marketed in the UK. These regulations provide for the affixing of a UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark attesting to the conformity of products. When a product's conformity is assessed by a certification body, the latter must be recognized by the local authorities, in order to qualify for "UK Approved Body" (UKAB) status. This status can only be granted to bodies based in the UK.
To support manufacturers, for whom the UK represents a significant market, LNE, via its subsidiary GMED (specialized in the certification of medical devices), is mobilizing to obtain "UK Approved Body" status, through an entity called LNE-GMED UK, based near London. This new subsidiary within the LNE group will draw on the GMED and LNE teams, and will also significantly develop its own local production forces.
The creation of LNE-GMED UK strengthens the position of LNE and GMED as certification bodies with an international vocation. This future certification body for medical devices, construction products, measuring instruments and products emitting noise outside buildings aims to secure access to the UK market for LNE and GMED customers, while accelerating the development of the LNE group.
David Francis takes over as General Manager of this UK subsidiary. An engineer by training, he has over 20 years' experience in the fields of medical devices, electromechanical engineering, aerospace, avionics and defense, gained in management positions in industry, notified bodies and consulting firms. He will put his expertise at the service of the deployment of this new subsidiary for the benefit of manufacturers wishing to market their products in the UK.
