Itron. Inc, a specialist in innovative and secure solutions for water, gas and electricity utilities and cities, announces the launch of the second generation of its Intelis range of intelligent water management platforms.
The Itron Intelis wSource is an ultrasonic water meter that features a very high level of accuracy and advanced features that improve visibility into the distribution network, limit losses and reduce billing errors. To date, it is the only water meter on the market to be Mid-certified for R1000 accuracy. This new standard is designed to improve the accuracy of water consumption measurement at low flow rates.
Globally, an average of 30 % of water is lost due to leakage and theft. The Itron Intelis wSource meter helps reduce these real or perceived losses through superior low-rate metering performance, access to highly granular water consumption data, and fraud alarms. The meter is compatible with Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (Ami) technologies, incorporating networking capabilities to facilitate deployment with various communication systems.
Other major features of the Itron Intelis wSource meter include:
- AMR to Ami scalability: Intelis wSource allows automatic meter reading (AMR) via a bi-directional wM-Bus communication line and fixed network remote reading (Ami) thanks to the native LoRa protocol and Sigfox integration, without requiring a gateway.
- Interoperability with open standards: The Intelis wSource connects to open standards and non-proprietary protocols and integrates with Itron and other manufacturers' measurement data management systems.
- Adaptation to extreme conditions: Proven in harsh waters, the Intelis wSource measurements remain stable and reliable under extreme temperatures and intermittent water supply.
- Durable performance: The Intelis wSource is IP68 rated for waterproofing to allow installation in flooded manholes and has a battery life of up to 20 years of service.
- Better visibility into the water distribution network: the Intelis wSource allows the water utility's customer service department to be aware of what is happening in the field through a billing index and consumption data logger. But also monitoring of flow distribution, backflow or reverse flow alarms, alerts triggered by certain events, detection of leaks, fraud or lack of consumption or on-site diagnostics.
