Cotelec announces the exclusive marketing in France and North Africa of the new range of test probes and contact pins from German manufacturer Feinmetall, designed for E-Mobility applications..
Automotive electronics are becoming increasingly digital, modern assistance systems ensure safety and comfort, and reliability is a top priority.
Electric mobility with fast charging processes at high currents also poses completely new challenges for contact and test technology. Reliable contacts with minimal contact resistance and high current-carrying capacity are needed to test the components and interfaces involved.
Intelligent contact solutions also enable the detection of mechanical details, the presence of protective devices or the monitoring of temperature profiles. Round pin contact, for example, is of great importance in E-mobility applications. In addition to electrical contact, a test for the presence of finger protection is often of great importance when testing connectors.
To meet these challenges, Cotelec is now offering, exclusively in France and North Africa, the new series of E-Mobility test tips and HC10 contact pins developed by its German partner Feinmetall. This solution has been specially designed for round pin contact, and can also be used to check and test finger protection caps.
The special ring-spring design of the HC10 Series spindle offers the advantage of reliable, damage-free contact with the test object at high currents of up to 200 A, and is ideal for handling different tolerances with round spindles.
The special feature of the HC10 E-Mobility test tip is that it is available in different variants (for all round spindle diameters) with detection pin or with finger protection request:
- The version with piston head coil springs ensures reliable and constant electrical contact with the round pins of the connector.
- In addition to this contact for current transfer, voltage measurement can be performed using an optional integrated leaf spring (sense Contact).
- Another variant with a short-circuit test between the bottom of the test tip and the tip of the connector pin. is used to check the presence of the protective cap on the connector pin. For this purpose, an additional, electrically insulated contact element has been integrated into the probe, which touches the test object on the front face and detects whether or not electrical conductivity has been established.
A special air-cooled version can be integrated for even higher currents.
To meet the challenge of contact with even higher currents, Feinmetall has also developed a special version of the HC10 series with integrated air cooling. The advantage of this version is that you can significantly reduce temperature rises caused by high currents.
From a practical point of view, round pins and sockets are integrated into all new e-mobility charging connectors worldwide. That's why Cotelec offers solutions for all common diameters (Ø4.0 / Ø6.0 / Ø8.0 / Ø10.0 mm).
All in all, with these new solutions, Cotelec's partner has once again succeeded in developing modular, multifunctional contact systems that make it considerably easier to test certain E-mobility components reliably. And only reliable test technology ultimately guarantees reliable vehicle technology.
