Christophe Mathieu, Director General of the Industrial Technical Centre for Metal Construction(CTICM),has just been elected president of the Industrial Technical Centres(CTI)network. Industrial Technical Centres(ITCs)are technological research structures that support an industrial sector, usually characterized by a high proportion of small and medium-sized enterprises. They carry out a mission of general interest in the fields of technological intelligence, research, development and standardization. They also develop private and commercial activities in technical assistance, technology transfer, training and more recently sustainable development. ITAs generally have a significant activity in instrumentation and are often required to develop new measurement and control techniques. There are about twenty ITCs in France, among which we can mention the Cetim, Cetiat, Cerib, theWelding Institute or the LRCCP. A former student of the École Polytechnique and a graduate of ENSAé, Christophe Mathieu began his career at the Ministry of Defence in various engineering positions, responsible for business. He then joined the Thalès group as technical and scientific director of the subsidiary TDA Armaments before being appointed director of aeronautical development of the National Office of Aerospace Studies and Research(ONERA) in 2006, then general manager of the Industrial Technical Center of Metal Construction(CTICM) in May 2009.Christophe Mathieu succeeds Jacques Sturm, who after having held the presidency for four years, wished to retire.
