Environne'Tech's "innovation and application" department has just completed a sand and dust wind test bench. With its 1m3 exposure chamber, its various available servitudes (electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic), its temperature, humidity, speed and particle concentration specifications, as well as the precision of its settings and monitoring, this test bench has become the new benchmark for these very special tests.
Commissioned in May 2013 at the Bourgoin test center, this rig enables Environne'Tech and Emitech Group customers to entrust larger test specimens and benefit from shorter test times, with the possibility of switching from dust wind to sand wind configuration in a matter of hours.
Sand and dust wind tests are intended for on-board equipment that encounters dust conditions that could damage it, disrupt its operation or communications, etc. These tests can reveal loss of sealing, particle penetration or even abrasion phenomena, etc.
While the reference standards calling for these tests mainly concern aerospace and defense (DO160, GAM EG13, MIL STD810, STANAG 4370, etc.), a growing number of sectors are now specifying them: civil engineering, urban equipment, automotive, etc.
