Effective March 11, 2014, leading private industrial gases specialist Messer has purchased 100 % of Praxair S.A.S shares held byPraxair Euroholding, Spain. Messer thus acquires a company with its employees, production assets and customer base. " Through this repositioning, we are strengthening our activities in our core European market. "says Stefan Messer, owner and CEO of Messer Group GmbH.
The acquisition of Praxair S.A.S. will enable Messer to strengthen its competitive position in the French industrial and medical gases market. The newly acquired activities will be rapidly integrated into the existing business, in order to achieve the expected result as soon as possible. Synergies are expected to generate savings mainly in production and distribution, as well as in management. Production assets include two air separation units where industrial gases such as oxygen, nitrogen and argon are derived from ambient air, several on-site production units at customer sites, three filling centers for packaged gases, and gas distribution equipment: tanks, reservoirs and cylinders. " These production units and sites perfectly complement our existing structures" says Nicolas Denis, Chairman of Messer France and of the newly acquired company. Thanks to the expansion of its sites and product range by the newly acquired activities, Messer France will optimize the supply of its customers in France.
