As of March 11, 2014, the largest private industrial gas specialist, Messer, has purchased 100% of the shares of Praxair S.A.S held byPraxair Euroholding, Spain. Messer acquires a company with its employees, production assets and customers. "Through this repositioning, we are strengthening our activities in our core market in Europe," said Stefan Messer, owner and CEO of Messer Group GmbH.
The acquisition of Praxair S.A.S. will enable Messer to strengthen its competitive position in the French industrial and medical gas market. The newly acquired activities will be quickly integrated into the existing company in order to achieve the expected result as soon as possible. Synergy is expected to generate savings primarily in production and distribution, as well as in management. Production assets consist, among other things, of two air separation units or industrial gases such as oxygen, nitrogen and argon are derived from ambient air, several on-site production units at customers, three filling centres for gases packaged as well as gas distribution equipment: tanks, tanks and bottles. "These production units and sites perfectly complement our existing structures,"says Nicolas Denis, president of Messer France and the newly acquired company. Through the expansion of its sites and product range, through the newly acquired activities, Messer France will optimize the supply of its customers in France.
