HBM announces that it has acquired FiberSensing - Sistemas Avancados de Monitorizacao S.A. (FiberSensing), a leading supplier of measurement and control systems for critical physical quantities based on FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) technology. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
According to Andreas Hüllhorst, Managing Director of HBM, " The acquisition of FiberSensing follows HBM's strategy of adding key technologies for the benefit of existing customers, while enabling HBM's sales and marketing team to address new customer segments. ". FiberSensing becomes "HBM FiberSensing SA", the center of excellence for HBM's global optical business.
Andreas Hüllhorst commented: ". FiberSensing's range of sensors and interrogators, together with its expertise in optics, are the perfect complement to HBM's measurement and test applications, particularly in hazardous environments or those with very high levels of deformation or electromagnetic interference. This will enable us to meet customers' needs in both purely optical and hybrid solutions. We are delighted that this team of optical specialists will soon be part of HBM. "
" FiberSensing has a great team and we believe that its integration into HBM will enable the company to achieve its full potential, supported by HBM's worldwide presence. ", explained Dr. José da Franca, CEO of Portugal Ventures, FiberSensing's majority shareholder. " This acquisition is a sign of confidence from a multinational in Portugal's engineering capabilities and innovative talent. We hope it will be a catalyst in making Portugal an attractive location for international investment in technology start-ups. We wish HBM and FiberSensing every success in the international journey they are now embarking on together. ".
