Areva NP has just completed the replacement of the reactor vessel level control system at the Spanish nuclear power plant in Trillo*, operated by the electricity company CNAT (Centrales Nucleares Almaraz-Trillo). This system continuously monitors the water level inside the reactor vessel and transmits the information to the control room. The new level sensors are more robust and offer greater reliability. The contract includes the supply of in-core sensors and associated components as well as the design, engineering, installation and commissioning of the system. The components were manufactured in Germany by AREVA NP's Karlstein plant.
"I would like to thank the AREVA NP teams for their contribution to the safe operation of our plant, said Luis Soriano, CNAT's director of technical services. "This project is another step in our long-term partnership with electrician CNAT, which began with the construction of the plant in the 1980s. We recently upgraded the "Aeroball" measurement system in the plant's control system, adds Martin Winkler, VP Sales and Marketing of Areva NP's Controls BU.
