Hexagon AB announces the acquisition of Nextsense, a leading innovator in non-contact surface inspection and profile measurement. Nextsense specializes in developing solutions for improving product quality through fast, efficient and micrometrically accurate measurements in the automotive, rail, steel and aerospace industries.
Founded in 2007 and based in Graz, Austria, Nextense employs over 80 people worldwide. Its manual, production-integrated and automated solutions are based on patented Calipri technology. This measuring principle automatically compensates for inclinations and rotations during scanning, offering the possibility of immediately correcting profile deviations and surface defects using high-precision measurements, without operator influence.
" Nextsense's cutting-edge technology and algorithms provide the analysis needed to introduce corrective action more quickly. This approach combines perfectly with our vision of the smart factory, which is to harness the full potential of quality data.says Ola Rollén, President and CEO of Hexagon. In addition, this acquisition extends our skills in the analysis of the fit quality of vehicle parts, which has an influence on perceived quality at the point of purchase, as well as in the rail and steel sectors, among others, where our presence is rather discreet today. The combination of sensors, software and advanced analysis functionalities from both portfolios will bring added value to all customers, and enable Nextsense solutions to enter new markets and regions. "
Nextsense's business will be integrated into Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division. The company's sales in 2017 totaled 12 million euros.
