Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announces the worldwide launch of the PartInspect L system, the first automated 3D measurement cell to incorporate Aicon scanner technology. Based on structured light scanning technology, combined with a flexible robot arm and installed in a modular cabin, PartInspect L leverages Hexagon's high level of automation expertise to meet the growing demand for high-quality, high-speed part measurement and analysis.
To provide a high-quality, automated 3D measurement experience, from planning to reporting, scanning and analysis, the system schedules automated scans, generates robot trajectories and features CAD-based collision avoidance. "This new measurement cell, which incorporates our Aicon scanner technology, makes it easier and more efficient to exploit the high-speed measurement performance of these systems, says Dr Dirk Rieke-Zapp, Aicon scanner and automation product manager at Hexagon. PartInspect L brings high-speed quality control onto the shop floor, making it accessible to all operators, without advanced training, and offering considerable productivity gains."
Pre-assembled and factory-configured, PartInspect L features "plug & play" functionality, enabling it to be installed in less than two days and requiring no on-site engineering. The cell provides fast, comprehensive 3D inspection results for parts up to 1.5 meters in diameter/height and 2,000 kilograms in weight. PartInspect L can be used in an off-line, near-line or integrated configuration to enable full or statistical quality control, as required.
The system is available in two versions - Efficient and HiEnd - which exploit the functionalities of the Aicon scanner range. The Efficient configuration is based on the entry-level Aicon PrimeScan system, while HiEnd is based on the ultra-high-performance Aicon StereoScan neo model. Both variants are compatible with the online DPA photogrammetry add-on for even greater measurement accuracy and extended control.
