Collaboration with the FHNW, Faculty of Life Sciences
In collaboration with FHNW, Faculty of Life Sciences in Muttenz, Switzerland, and EnviroChemie, a plant builder, Endress + Hauser has developed and installed two control platforms in the Center for Process Technology (PTC - Process Tehnology Center) of the university. The aim is to integrate the platforms into the teaching, research and education missions of the university.
In the area of hygiene, research and development is focused on flowmeters and other process components with strict requirements for ease of cleaning. Endress + Hauser collaborated with FHNW, Faculty of Life Sciences, to design a test system to implement common cleaning processes and develop new ones.
Endress + Hauser provided a very complex automation solution for the wastewater control platform. The main challenge was the implementation of a modular design. FHNW researchers were able to group together the different individual stages of the process. The project thus stands out from municipal and industrial systems whose process steps are clearly individualized. The project has a clear focus on security, which allows students to work on the system.
The Process Technology Center (PTC)
The FHNCW Process Technology Center (PTC) was opened in June 2019 as part of a new construction project on the Muttenz campus. This new platform for the development of chemical, biotechnological and environmental engineering processes strengthens the university's research and development activities focused on applications.
Priority to training and education
Endress + Hauser attaches great importance to the training and education of young people, so the company is involved in various research and development projects with local training and education institutions around the world, including close collaborations with 15 colleges and universities around the world.
