Collaboration with FHNW, Faculty of Life Sciences
In collaboration with the FHNW, Faculty of Life Sciences in Muttenz, Switzerland, and EnviroChemie, a plant manufacturer, Endress+Hauser has developed and installed two control platforms in the university's Process Technology Center (PTC). The aim is to integrate the platforms into the university's teaching, research and education missions.
In the field of hygiene, research and development is focused on flowmeters and other process components with stringent cleaning requirements. Endress+Hauser has collaborated with the FHNW, Faculty of Life Sciences, to design a test system to implement current cleaning processes and develop new ones.
Endress+Hauser provided a highly complex automation solution for the wastewater control platform. The main challenge was to implement a modular design. FHNW researchers were able to group together the individual process steps. This distinguishes the project from municipal and industrial systems, whose process steps are clearly individualized. The project has a clear safety focus, enabling students to work on the system.
The Process Technology Center (PTC)
The FHNCW Process Technology Center (PTC) was opened in June 2019 as part of a new building project on the Muttenz campus. This new platform for the development of chemical, biotechnological and environmental engineering processes strengthens the university's application-oriented research and development activities.
Priority to training and education
Endress+Hauser attaches great importance to the training and education of young people, so the company is involved in various research and development projects with local training and educational establishments around the world, including close collaborations with 15 colleges and universities worldwide.
