The Emitech group, composed among others of testing laboratories dedicated to environmental testing applicable to any sector of activity, announces that it has installed three new Faraday cages in 2021, including two multi-activity cages. With now 57 cages spread over 10 of its 16 sites in France, Emitech is strengthening its position as a French leader: the group is able to carry out 180 test campaigns simultaneously. Each year, the group's 550 employees handle nearly 14,000 requests from more than 2,500 companies.
Julien Joly, Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Emitech explains: "These three new cages are a strategic response of the Emitech Group to the growing demands of our customers. It is essential for us to be able to respond in their entirety, with fluidity, quality and in compliance with compliance standards. »
The first cage is of full anechoic type, it is dedicated to the fields of radio tests and IOT. It is located in Vendargues, near Montpellier, in addition to and in addition to the already existing test facilities.
State-of-the-art equipment
The other two cages located in the Rhône-Alpes (Chassieu) and Grand-Ouest (Rennes) regions are of a new type: they are versatile semi-anechoic cages of high performance and high quality. They offer different configurations which allows a complete versatility of the means: an antenna mast and a turntable on the one hand and, a removable table with its ground plane, on the other hand.
For the configuration using the turntable and the mast to vary the height of the antenna, it is intended for equipment in the approval phase (CE marking, placing on the market in the world ...) to carry out measurements of radiated emissions and immunities.
For the configuration used to carry out the automotive, military and aeronautical qualification tests, the ground plane connected to the cage covered by the table is required by the applicable test methods in order to reproduce the metallic environment of the equipment concerned.
A quick change of configuration between approval and qualification
The dimensions of these cages are designed to accommodate the largest equipment to be tested: they measure 8.5m long x 5.5m wide x 5.5 high, or a volume of 257 m3. Doors displaying 3m x 3m, in comparison, a standard door measures 2m x 2.10m are therefore ideal, for example, for computer bays that usually measure 2.40m high.
The turntables are in line with this desire to be able to test large systems with a 1.5 diameter plate supporting 1 ton for the first and a 2m diameter tray supporting 2 tons for the second.
The tables dedicated to qualifications offer a large area to install equipment, such as a battery for electric vehicles.
Continuing this development strategy, Emitech is already announcing for 2023 a new versatile semi-anechoic cage even more voluminous, with dimensions of 27m long x 18m wide and 11 meters high, equipped with a door of 4.8m x 4.8m. It will be installed in the heart of a specific extension of a 1200 m2 building at the head office in Montigny-le-Bretonneux and will be accompanied by a 59th cage of 8m x 7m.
