Rockwell Automation announces that it has agreed to acquire Jacobs Automation, a leader in intelligent motion control technology.
Jacobs Automation offers an intelligent motion control solution called iTRAK. This technology improves performance in a wide range of packaging, handling and other applications for the global machine-builder market.
" The combination of iTRAK technology and our Integrated Architecture will be a game-changer for machine builders," said Victor Swint, Vice President of the Motion Control Division at Rockwell Automation. "It will provide customers with new technology to improve performance and flexibility, so they can respond quickly to changing market demands. ".
iTRAK technology enables independent control of multiple magnetically-propelled carriages on straight or curved tracks. This system enables machine and equipment manufacturers to reduce costs and complexity, while allowing end-users to standardize their applications on a single platform for better optimization, improved reliability, and faster system deployment.
" iTRAK is a breakthrough technology that provides machine builders with greater speed and flexibility.said Keith Jacobs, President of Jacobs Automation. This integrated solution will increase productivity, reduce energy consumption and enable faster changeovers by adjusting machine speed and geometry during operations. Rockwell Automation has the resources and a presence backed by international OEMs to make this a new industry standard. ".
Jacobs Automation, a company based in Erlanger, Kentucky, will be integrated into Rockwell Automation's Motion business, within its Architecture & Software division. The acquisition is expected to be completed in January 2014.
