Tugdual Le Bouar is assisting Pierre-Marie Lehucher (Chairman and CEO) to drive and accelerate growth in France and internationally for Carl Software, France's #1 provider of technical asset and maintenance management solutions (GTP/GMAO). He is also Product Marketing Director of the Berger-Levrault Group, to which Carl Software has belonged since 2018.
Tugdual Le Bouar, who holds a doctorate in physical sciences and is a graduate of École Polytechnique Paris, began his career in 1997 at Motorola then Freescale on operational management assignments, then joined CGG in 2008 to take charge of the Group's transformation, and a few years later to head up one of the Business Units.
He joined publisher Berger-Levrault's Comex in 2018 as Marketing and Product Development Director, in charge of consolidating and streamlining the product and services portfolio.
With a strong knowledge of the technological environment and as a key player in the Group's strategic development, he will lead Carl Software to achieve the following objectives:
- Move the company from its position as No. 1 in France to that of an international leader in CMMS/CGT software for all sectors of activity (industry, transport, real estate, local authorities, water, health, etc.). The Berger Levrault Group's international presence, notably in Canada, Spain and Morocco, will rapidly strengthen Carl Software's international presence beyond its offices in Belgium and Italy.
- Accelerate innovation by leveraging the complementarity of the Berger-Levrault Group's technological expertise, and enable Carl Software to anticipate major changes in the sector (industry of the future, intelligent cities and buildings, etc.).
2018, a year of positive transition for CARL Software
In May 2018, the Berger-Levrault Group announced the acquisition of Carl Software, an expert publisher in technical management of equipment and maintenance (CMMS / TPM).
Tugdual Le Bouar sums up the operation: "A change of shareholder is often synonymous with a downturn in business. In the case of Carl Software, it's clear that the integration of its team within the Berger-Levrault group is already producing measurable positive effects! "
Stronger R&D momentum
" For the past 10 months, the Carl Software and Berger-Levrault teams have been working to share know-how and pool resources and expertise in all areas. In R&D, for example, these exchanges have enabled us to enrich Carl Software's ambitious strategy around the new Carl e-Twin concept, the digital twin of equipment, assets and infrastructures, and its 5 areas of innovation: connected objects (IoT) and predictive maintenance, machine learning (Artificial Intelligence), energy management, geographic information systems (GIS) and building information models (BIM)".
A flourishing 2018 business year
In 2018, Carl Software recorded exceptional growth in the number of new orders, with nearly 80 new references across all sectors and a notable breakthrough in industrial activity. "Thanks to synergies with the Berger-Levrault Group's international entities, around 30 % of orders come from customers outside France. We won market share in Italy (+44 % in sales compared with 2017), Spain (+50 % in sales compared with 2017), as well as a significant contract for the city of Pointe-Claire in Canada." continues the Managing Director.
For Tugdual Le Bouar, 2018 also confirms the central role of product innovation in the growth dynamic:
"Mobility is a fine illustration of this: in 2018, over 60 % of our new customers acquired Carl Touch mobility right from the start of their project. Similarly, Carl Flash, our new user-oriented mobile application, launched in 2018 is finding its market with several dozen customers in all sectors of activity and in various countries. In 2018, we also observed growing market interest in major innovation topics such as BIM, IoT and artificial intelligence, on which we are working with our customers and research partners. Another remarkable feature of 2018 concerns the commercial take-off of hosted solutions. Our SaaS CARL Cloud offering is gaining in popularity with customers as we record an increase of 75%."
