Danaher ($16 billion in sales in 2011) is back on the offensive. After recently parting ways from a few activities deemed non-strategic, the U.S. group is resuming its policy of corporate buyouts. He has just bought X-Rite, a specialist in color measurement and is present in many industries (printing, packaging, photography, graphic arts, video, automotive, paints, plastics, textiles) as well as the medical and dental sectors. X-Rite (which owns the Pantone brand among others) is added to the other big names that Danaher owns in the world of measurement: Fluke, Gems Sensors, Hach, Keithley Instruments, Tektronix, among others. Danaher will spend $625 million to take control of X-Rite. Once the acquisition is effective, X-Rite will join the Product Identification division, which also includes Esko (packaging design and production) and Videojet (marking and printing codes on packaging).
