A tool to bridge the gap between thermometers and infrared cameras

Fluke presents the Fluke VT02 visual infrared thermometer, a troubleshooting instrument with infrared thermal mapping, which is the missing link in situations where a simple infrared measurement is not enough and where a high-resolution thermogram is unnecessary.

Until now, electricians and industrial, HVAC and automotive technicians had to choose between single-point infrared thermometers and high-resolution thermal cameras (infrared cameras). The Fluke VT02 visual infrared thermometer fills this gap, in cases where a single-point temperature measurement is not sufficient and a high-resolution thermal image is not required.

The Fluke VT02 is a unique tool that combines the precision of a thermal imaging camera, the visual images of a digital camera and the ease of using an infrared thermometer for an affordable price. This unique technology summary is priced at EUR 695 HT.

Performing inspections for electrical, industrial, HVAC/R and automotive applications is much faster with the Fluke VT02 than with an infrared thermometer, which involves taking several measurements and manually recording results. The VT02 instantly detects problems by merging thermal and digital images.

The Fluke VT02 displays and records images in total visual mode, total infrared or in three merged modes (25, 50 and 75%). Markers identify hot and cold spots, indicating the warmest temperatures using a red box and the coldest with a blue box. A temperature measurement is shown on the central point of the screen. The images are stored on the microSD card, so the user no longer has to write down the measurements.

Developing a tool that is even easier to use than a conventional thermal imaging camera required a great capacity for innovation. Using super-thin pyroelectric technology, Fluke engineers have discovered a way to push the boundaries of this technology by developing a matrix dense enough to create an infrared thermogram.

Compact and easy to use, the VT02 does not require focus and can therefore be used regardless of experience level, allowing the skills of the in-house staff to be expanded. It also allows service providers to expand their offerings. VT02 images can be exported to SmartView analytics and reporting software (included with VT02) to produce business reports documenting detected problems or repairs made to communicate to managers and customers.
