The Welding Institute Group and the Ortec Group have signed an agreement for the takeover of the NDT, END and Metrology business of Orys, a subsidiary of the Ortec Group, as of1 April 2018. This takeover confirms the desire of the Welding Institute Group to pursue its development strategy in the nuclear market.
The Institut de Soudure Group is present in all French regions of the nuclear sector
By taking over the END, NDT and metrology activities of Orys, the Institut de Soudure group completes its geographical coverage by establishing itself in the Loire Valley, a major region of the nuclear sector with 14 reactors operating out of a total fleet of 58 reactors in France. The region also offers long visibility in terms of activity by being part of the "big fairing" investment programme over the period 2014-2025. The takeover will also allow the Welding Institute Group to expand its offer, particularly on equipment calibration and verification services, by positioning itself in the metrology market.
A resumption of activity that generates value for the clients of the Institut de Soudure group
With this agreement, the Institut de Soudure group integrates into its workforce all of the 24 employees located on two sites, in Avoine near the Chinon plant and in Ouzouer-sur-Loire near the Dampierre plant. The Group will sign a commercial lease for these two sites which will complete its territorial network in France. The operation enables the Group to acquire a portfolio of additional customers and to become a tier 1 service provider for EDF. Beyond that, the resumed activity has strong development potential. Integration into the Welding Institute group will bring synergies, a more global offer and a strong positioning with local players in industrial boilermaking and piping.
Sylvain de Lescazes, president of the Institut de Soudure group, underlined that “ this external growth project fits perfectly into the Group's strategy, allowing it to continue its diversification. This is an opportunity for the Group. The structure that we are taking will allow us to integrate employees whose skills have been recognized locally for a long time ”.
