Bronkhorst's new ES-FLOW ES-113C series of compact ultrasonic flowmeters/regulators has been designed for the OEM (machine manufacturer) market to measure or dose very low volume flow rates with high accuracy and linearity. Flow rates from 2 to 1500 ml/min can be measured using ultrasound emitted in a small diameter tube, regardless of the density, temperature and viscosity of the liquid. The instrument does not require any calibration before using a different fluid. Combining a straight sensor tube with no dead volume and transducers positioned on the outer surface, this flow meter is self-draining and easy to clean. The parts in contact with the fluid are made of stainless steel and the outer housing is rated IP66/IP67. The integrated PID control board can be used to drive a control valve or pump, allowing users to establish a complete control loop and compact solution. What's more, the instrument has several communication options including fieldbuses, customizable inputs/outputs, and the ability to view temperature as a secondary result.
Among the applications of these new flow meters and regulators for low flow rates, those of the food and pharmaceutical industry (e.g. additive dosing, sterilization), the medical sector (e.g. for dialysis) and the chemical field (e.g. catalysts and reagents) are the most common. The instruments can be implemented in many processes that require precise control of liquid products, such as measuring fuel consumption or dosing dyes, flavors and lubricants.
