Machine vision specialist Cognex Corporation has announced the launch of the In-Sight SnAPP vision sensor, redefining the standards for ease-of-use, accuracy and functionality in industrial sensors. This product extends the company's capabilities into the world of vision sensors, and adds a billion dollars to the markets it serves.

"Designed to ensure maximum simplicity and ease of deployment, the In-Sight SnAPP sensor provides customers with new access to the machine vision market," explains Carl Gerst, Executive Vice President, Products, Platforms and Solutions at Cognex. "We're making Cognex's Edge learning technology accessible to more companies around the world, in almost every end market, enabling users to rapidly improve efficiency and streamline their manufacturing processes."

The In-Sight SnAPP sensor solves many common quality control challenges, including presence/absence inspection, assembly verification and defect detection. Vision-based detection represents an advance over conventional laser sensors, providing the ability to locate components and parts in any position, and to detect subtle defects. The In-Sight SnAPP sensor is "trained" using a small number of examples, and requires no programming or vision knowledge on the part of the user. What's more, the web-based user interface allows customers to plug in and run the In-Sight SnAPP sensor from any location, using a standard web browser - the first Cognex product with no software to install.

" The In-Sight SnAPP sensor is our easiest-to-use product to date, combining our cutting-edge vision capabilities and Edge learning technology with a greater focus on the user experience, said Robert Willett, President and CEO of Cognex. The In-Sight SnAPP vision sensor market boom will help us to drive our In-Sight SnAPP initiative. Emerging Customer (Emerging Customers) by broadening our customer base and helping to achieve our long-term growth objectives."
