Rockwell Automation has added new tools to its Pavilion8 predictive control software, giving users the ability to create simple or complex process models themselves. Pavilion8 version 4.0 leverages a powerful modeling engine to collect all available data within a plant, including equations, empirical and heuristic data, to help users develop a robust process model. The software continuously evaluates current and forecast operational data, compares them with expected results, and calculates new control setpoints to reduce variability and improve process performance.
" We constantly ask our customers to do more with lessexplains Ric Snyder, Product Manager for Advanced Process Control at Rockwell Automation. Pavilion8 version 4.0 offers new tools that will enable companies to get the most out of their production lines. "
Thanks to Pavilion8's integration with the PlantPAx process automation system, software users can create models by leveraging a common design and execution environment to reduce overall commissioning times. Three major enhancements have been made to the latest version of Pavilion8 software to simplify predictive control and reduce total cost of ownership: solution development tools, web-based dashboards and automatic step-by-step testing.
Automatic step-by-step testing
Step-by-step testing is one of the most time-consuming tasks in any predictive control project. The new automatic step-by-step tester simplifies and accelerates testing, and enables it to be adapted to changing process conditions. This helps users to shorten the total time spent identifying dynamic patterns. In addition, users can use this test tool to update models and maintain their accuracy as the process changes over time. Automatic step testing is particularly useful in applications such as chemical refining, where process dynamics can be extremely time-consuming.
One of the most powerful and scalable software engines for predictive control
" Rockwell Automation is backed by one of the world's most powerful and scalable predictive control software engines.says Peter Reynolds, Senior Consultant at ARC Advisory Group. With its new user-friendly configuration tools, Pavilion8 greatly simplifies the deployment and support of model-based process control, helping manufacturers to optimize multiple process units and manage variability.
