Next-generation Windchill offers SaaS-based PLM benefits for digital transformation
PTC today announced the release of Windchill+. its product lifecycle management (PLM) software. Windchill+ is a new generation of the company's market-leading Windchill software, offered with a modern Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) architecture. By leveraging the benefits of SaaS, Windchill+ facilitates collaboration around product data, enabling product development teams to accelerate time-to-market and PLM deployment.
" For over twenty years, many of the world's most modern manufacturing companies have been using Windchill to design, develop and manufacture their products. ", says Jim Heppelmann, President and CEO of PTC. " Our Windchill product range opens up an exciting new future with Windchill+, which offers all the power of PLM for digital transformation, while simplifying deployment, use and version upgrades of the software solution through the use of a modern SaaS architecture. "
Analysts estimate that manufacturers will have invested over $450 billion in digital transformation initiatives by 2021, with SaaS adoption accelerating due in part to the global pandemic. For many companies, PLM is increasingly seen as the backbone of digital transformation, and SaaS-based PLM solutions are now perceived as " the product data storage system providing digital continuity that connects people, processes and complex systems in a closed loop covering the entire product lifecycle " according to Frank Della Rosa, research vice president, SaaS, business Platforms, and Industry Cloud, at IDC.
Windchill+ combines the transformation benefits of a modern SaaS architecture with the speed, agility and interoperability of PLM. By adopting SaaS, customers reduce the number of existing applications and solutions installed on site. They can move from implementation to controlled use of PLM with speed and simplicity, and easily accelerate PLM adoption across the enterprise. Windchill+ makes it faster, easier and more secure to collaborate with external supply chain partners. PTC will leverage Windchill+'s SaaS architecture to offer customers new PLM versions and features over time.
