Rockwell Automation, a global specialist in industrial automation and digital transformation, is collaborating with Nvidia to accelerate the development of next-generation industrial architecture. Rockwell aims to create the factory of the future and help automation companies digitize their industrial processes more easily. This includes enhanced sensing capabilities through machine vision, accelerated computing capabilities in control systems, advanced simulation tools equipped with learning agents, widespread adoption of autonomous mobile robots (AMR), as well as generative AI (GenAI) experiments that will improve front-line operators' ability to search for information.
"This collaboration with Nvidia will help us accelerate the future of industrial operations and generate value across our portfolio of software, hardware and services, from the cloud to the shop floor.", said Jordan Reynolds, Rockwell Automation Vice President of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy.
By integrating Nvidia's Omniverse Cloud application programming interfaces (APIs) with its Emulate3D digital twin software, Rockwell will provide the data interoperability, real-time collaboration and physical visualization capabilities needed to design, create and operate the industrial digital twin of their production system.
"Demand for accelerated computing tools capable of creating, simulating and exploiting large-scale digital twins is rising sharplyadded Rev Lebaredian, Vice President Omniverse & Simulation Technology, Nvidia. By integrating our Omniverse Cloud APIs with its Emulate3D digital twin application, Rockwell will make plant analysis, including operation and simulation, both simpler and more predictive than ever before.. "
Demand for intelligent robotics and automation solutions in the manufacturing and logistics sectors is growing in response to labor shortages and the need to increase productivity. Leveraging Nvidia's robotics platform for embedded AI, Rockwell provides industrial companies with autonomous mobile robots - thanks to the recent acquisition of Otto Motors - and process automation applications.
According to a recent study by Rockwell Automation, industrial companies believe that AI is the main tool that will enable them to achieve the best results. For example, a large majority of manufacturing companies (83 %) plan to use generative AI in the course of their business in 2024.
Through this collaboration, Nvidia becomes an official member of the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork. Rockwell customers will thus be able to use Nvidia applications.
