On January 30, 2024, Cetim (Centre technique des industries mécaniques) inaugurated its new FabLab dedicated to industrial 5G at its site in Cluses, Haute-Savoie. This innovative laboratory aims to familiarize companies with the opportunities offered by 5G in the manufacturing sector.
The Cluses site, specialized in bar turning and machining, boasts 7,000 m² of industrial resources and expertise, including a 1,800 m² workshop fully covered by private 5G.
While private 5G is emerging, many companies are still unfamiliar with the field. Cetim's 5G FabLab offers companies the chance to discover, experiment and understand this technology through demonstrations, training and the co-creation of full-scale projects.
The areas of expertise of Cetim's FabLab 5G cover innovative processes, robotization, cobotization and digitization of production tools. Companies will benefit from discovery sessions, personalized diagnostics, tests to refine their needs, specialized training and comprehensive support for industrial 5G deployment.
Cetim's project, winner of the AMI Campus Fablab 5G industrielle, is being carried out in partnership with Alsatis and financed by the French government as part of France 2030 and by the European Union (Next Generation EU) as part of the France Relance plan. Its mission: to support the digital transformation of the production facilities of SMEs and ETIs in the manufacturing industry with industrial 5G.
The 5G FabLab also offers a 5G communications kit, enabling companies to experiment with the technology on their own sites. This will enable them to assess the potential of 5G before investing fully in the technology.
