Hexagon strengthens its capabilities in Industry 4.0, autonomous solutions and digital twins with the acquisition of CADLM.
Hexagon AB, the world's leading supplier of sensors, software and autonomous systems, has announced the acquisition of CADLM SAS, a pioneer in combining computer-aided engineering (CAE) with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to revolutionize the impact of simulation on development processes and product lifecycles.
Founded in 1989, France-based CADLM has years of experience in developing computational design and optimization methods for industrial products and processes, and has been developing AI and machine learning solutions since 2014.
Its Odyssee software platform applies AI and machine learning to real-world sensor data and physics-based simulation data to produce accurate, predictive models of a product at efficient levels of computational power.
The combination enables faster, more efficient simulations of dynamic, multi-physical phenomena - such as crashes and automotive safety - that characterize and fully understand real-world product behavior.
This efficiency enables engineers to explore the design space more thoroughly and interactively, and improve next-generation products without prohibitive cost or computing time.
In addition, the widespread use of the digital twin beyond the early design phase enables manufacturers to leverage image recognition, predictive simulation and defect prediction to address challenges such as downtime, yield, quality and flexibility throughout the manufacturing process.
"The convergence of CAE with advances in data management, AI, machine learning and an increasingly connected manufacturing lifecycle is transforming the industry's ability to meet increasingly complex design challenges through rapid innovation and increased productivity."says Ola Rollén, President and CEO of Hexagon.
"CADLM's AI knowledge and technology further strengthens our portfolio of smart manufacturing solutions, putting data to work in the early design phase to improve product design innovation, manufacturing productivity, product quality and environmental sustainability through reduced material waste."
CADLM will become part of Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division.
