Lean 6 Sigma University is organizing the 1st competition for the best "lean 6 sigma" projects. The competition is open to anyone who has implemented a company-wide performance improvement project based on the DMAIC methodology. Candidates must submit a document summarizing their project by February 25, 2011. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday April 1, 2011 in the lounges of Lyon Saint Exupéry airport. Founded in 2003, the Lean 6 Sigma University aims to promote the exchange of Lean 6 Sigma performance improvement practices, and the certification of skills such as Green Belt, Black Belt and Lean Coach, based on current international standards. Lean Six Sigma is the application and combination of two concepts: Lean and Six Sigma. Lean aims to eliminate non-value-added tasks, losses and waste, and to simplify processes by increasing fluidity, flexibility and agility. Six Sigma, on the other hand, aims to reduce process variability in order to make processes more reliable, stable and predictable, moving towards zero defects.
