Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Secretary of State to the Minister of the Economy and Finance, Antoine Legros, President of the Welding Institute group, Abdelkrim Chehaibou, General Director of the Welding Institute and Expertise Research Director of the Welding Institute group and Caroline Demoyer, head of institutional relations at Symop, on February 18, 2020, signed the objectives and performance contract, which links the Welding Institute as an industrial technical center (CTI) to the Symop and to the State for period 2020-2023.
This unique document commits the State, the Symop and the Welding Institute, recognized as CTI for welding and advanced controls, in a performance approach.
Founded in 1905 to support the development of welding in France and train staff in good practices, the Welding Institute was recognized as an industrial technical center in 1977.
The Welding Institute's 2020-2023 objectives and performance contract is broken down into four strategic axes that meet the expectations of companies in the major industrial sectors, oil and gas, nuclear, aeronautics, transport and metal construction.
- Industry of the future: develop multi-material assemblies, additive manufacturing and process automation;
- Ecological and energy transition for the transport sector: contributing to the control of processes aimed at reducing weight and ensuring high performance of welded structures;
- Sustainable and optimized management of the industrial tool: secure, make reliable and perpetuate the French industrial tool; improve the performance of manufacturing processes through the use of connected technologies and data science and extend the life of equipment;
Skills for industry and new training offers: maintain excellent courses for economic players (VSE-SME, large groups, local authorities), whatever the levels (from high school students to engineers, apprentices to the job seeker); develop training tools 4.0, to meet new uses and industrial needs, induced by digital technology and the development of technologies for the factory of the future.
Among the emblematic actions of the CTI included in the objectives and performance contract, let us mention the development of arc-wire and laser-wire additive manufacturing technologies to promote their industrialization, multi-material welding applications with technology transfer to industrialists , complete solutions for innovative welding or monitoring processes or even augmented reality training equipment.
